What they are:
Beeswax wraps are an eco-friendly alternative to clingfilm. Made from cotton, beeswax and natural oils and resins, use them for wrapping sandwiches, cheese, fruit etc.. and to cover containers for refrigeration.
They are homemade, with our own very own beeswax.
How to use:
Using the heat of your hands, shape your wrap around bowls and food to create a breathable seal. Play around and feel how they are malleable when warm, and see how they hold their shape when cold.
Caring for the wraps:
Hand wash in cold water and washing-up detergent.
Wraps can last for a year and beyond with proper care. After use, a few creases will appear where they have been folded; this is just natural ageing. Over time, some tackiness may also be lost. However, you can “refresh” a wrap at any point, by either:
- Warming it in an electric * oven for 3 mins, at 60°, on a sheet of greaseproof paper, or
- Ironing briefly between two sheets of greaseproof paper
Avoid using with raw meat and fish, dishwashers or microwaves *
* heat and naked flames (such as occur in a gas oven) are not a great idea, and will damage your wrap !
